SUNDAY NIGHT SLIDES
Don't know about you but the last couple of weeks, as the moon has been deluminating down through its waning phases (to the darkest (new) moon), have been more powerfully de-energizing than usual.
Maybe it's the overwhelm of negativity across current affairs, coupled with prolonged periods of isolation, that's naturally pushing me inward. So much so that I struggled to pull together a focused and coherent digest last week, for the first time in 12 weeks.
This latest complete lunar orbit, however, my second of tracking and recording energy throughout, has started to feel closer aligned.
Today's new moon is a rare and poignant one, in that it occurs on summer solstice but also coincides with a solar eclipse for the first time in 19 years. It's only visible across Africa and Asia though!
During a new moon, the lunar gravity pulls water up causing seeds to swell and burst. This, along with the increasing moonlight, creates balanced rooting and kickstarts leaf growth.
The first quarter phase from now onwards, is the optimum time for planting above-ground crops that produce seeds outside the fruit like lettuce, spinach, broccoli, cabbage and grains like wheat, barley, oats and rice.
Over the coming week, I'll be focusing on new commitments of action (1 road cycle, 1 trail cycle, 1 sea swim, 1 breath session every week) and exploring new ground (booking on a RAID Freediving course). Considering this a time of germination, so to speak.
A warm welcome to summertime.

RECOMMENDED LISTENING
🎙️ Get Your Brain Right and Your Mind Will Follow (Dr. Daniel Amen) on Bulletproof Radio — open.spotify.com
"I hate the term mental illness because it's not that, it's brain health issues" Dr. Amen is taking on mental health and showing how neuroscience is transforming psychiatry and helping prevent and even reverse mental health issues. Nobody believes it's really biological until you look.
🎧 Homegrown by Neil Young — open.spotify.com
The lost recorded album of the mid-’70s is a shimmering diamond well worth unearthing. This rather heery, commercial collection was ditched in favour of the darker 'Tonight’s The Night'. Today, it stands as proof of Young's endless talent.
🔊 Rough & Rowdy Ways by Bob Dylan — open.spotify.com
If 2020 couldn't get stranger, there's new Neil Young and Bob Dylan albums released in the same week. On his first original album in 8 years, Dylan explores religion and war, music and civil rights. Very few artists have analyzed his time and place with such insight and wit while carving out a legacy one well-timed work of art at a time.
WORTH WATCHING
Explaining the critical role food will play in the next frontier of our efforts to solve the environmental crisis. This short documentary explores four areas of agriculture that aim to change our relationship to the land and oceans. Most of our food is produced using methods that reduce biodiversity, decimate soil and contribute to climate change. We believe our food can and should be a part of the solution to the environmental crisis – grown, harvested and produced in ways that restore our land, water and wildlife.
