SUNDAY NIGHT SLIDES
An interrupted broadcast this week as I recover from a pretty hairy experience in hospital with coronavirus and wanted to extend my sincerest thanks for the messages of support and well wishes.
Health is most certainly wealth.
Followed very closely by friendship.
What was strange about how I presented with COVID-19 was that none of the classic symptoms were on display:
No high temperature
No new and continuous cough
Could still taste and smell at the time
So much so, it took three Docs conducting physical and neurological assessments nearly 24 hours before even considering me for a coronavirus test.
Two brain scans and a spinal tap later (more commonly known as a lumbar puncture where brain fluid is extracted from the spine) the results ruled out anything sinister like a bleed, a tumour, or meningitis and the ruling was just coronavirus.
The main symptoms I presented with were; a persistent migraine-like tension headache for four days with distorted vision and the right side of my body reacting slower than my left. There was a short window of fever-like symptoms where my heart was racing super fast but that wasn't so persistent.
Hopefully normal service will resume next week although now I've lost sense of taste and smell, my breathing is shallower and a cough has developed – but I'll certainly try my best.
Check in on a friend this evening, just to see how they're doing.
