Lighter days are here.Spring Equinox has been, signifying the movement of the Earth's rotational tilt towards the Sun again after being tilted away for the winter season. Equi(equal)nox(night) also signifies one of the two occurrences of the year when time is spent almost equally in daytime as it is nighttime.Balanced.The Moon's orbit around Earth isn't so circular, so a full moon that lands at the same time as perigee (the Moon's closest point to Earth during its ~27 day orbit) has its gravitation pull amplified.Which is why those who live close to the ocean will have seen the extreme high and low tides of late. It's our one year anniversary 🎉Me and you. Us, here, doing this thing together every Sunday(ish). Stoked you're still with me and hopefully enjoying the reads too. It's been great to hear how certain issues personally resonate with you so please keep the comments coming through.Whilst the externally enforced accountability should take some of the credit for the unexpectedly prolonged discipline, I'm proud of myself for showing up, 36 issues strong.Today, I took a look back at my first issue published in March 2020, featuring a quote from Yasmin Mogahed: “Resilience is very different than being numb. Resilience means you experience, you feel, you fail, you hurt, you fall. But, you keep going.”It wouldn't be an anniversary without a reflection, so thinking back over the past year, here's the overarching lesson I've learned:To allow myself to lean into the lows as equally as the highs.Whilst I could certainly do more of it, reflection helps as a gentle reminder of the why, strengthening the path towards North Star and fuelling the energy cycle needed to keep persevering.I'm now a breathwork coach 😤That's the triumph emoji, apparently.Who knew?As soon as I experienced the almost immediate benefits of active breathing, which has helped hugely with freediving training too, I've been studying for a mini teaching qualification that enables me to share the science-backed secrets of breath control and guide others through harnessing their breath to balance their energy.Nothing spiritual; just short and controlled practices to naturally dial up energy when needing to enhance focus or ignite motivation and dial down energy to regain presence from overstimulation or anxiety-induced impulsion. If you were around for Issue #7 then you might remember the Water, Whisky, Coffee breathing practices popularised by Lucas Rockwood during his talk Change Your Breath, Change Your Life –well it's he who's been my instructor and signed off my certification.Over the coming weeks, I'll drop in the benefits of breathwork every now and again but for those who are interested in exploring more, I'll be opening up my calendar for discovery sessions soon. This week's question is, after a tough year and the end in sight:How are you caring for yourself, and for others?Charlie
